Your prompts and results

Makoda runs on your Mac. Requests go from your app to Makoda at 127.0.0.1, then through to OpenAI under your own ChatGPT plan, as if you used it directly. Makoda's servers never receive prompts, results, files, ChatGPT credentials or Makoda tokens. OpenAI's own terms and privacy policy apply to those requests.

Anonymous usage analytics

To learn what to improve, the website and the app send anonymous usage events to PostHog: pages and screens viewed, buttons clicked, the app version, gateway state and connection-check result codes. Events use a random installation ID, not your name or email. IP addresses are not stored with events. We never send prompts, results, tokens, typed text or file contents.

You can turn analytics off in the app under Settings, Share anonymous usage. The website respects your browser's Do Not Track setting.

Local data

The app keeps job records on your Mac for up to 24 hours (results) and seven days (request metadata), plus hashed integration tokens. Uninstalling the app and deleting its Application Support folder removes them.
